Mets opening day roster 2025: Full team to start $765M man Juan Soto’s first year

The New York Mets enter the 2025 season with high expectations after signing free agent slugger Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract, the richest deal in pro sports history.

The Mets made a surprise run to the National League Championship Series last season, overcoming an ugly start to produce some of the more memorable moments – and memes – in franchise history. Homegrown hero Pete Alonso, whose home run saved their 2024 season, is back after testing the free agent waters.

New York is dealing with some injuries and will be without starting catcher Francisco Alvarez, second baseman Jeff McNeil and starting pitchers Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea to start the new campaign.
